Man airlifted to Nashville hospital after shooting in Hopkinsville

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WKRN) — A man with severe injuries was airlifted to a Nashville hospital overnight after a shooting in Hopkinsville, according to the Hopkinsville Police Department.

Just after 7 p.m. Friday, Hopkinsville officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Woodmill Drive and Atkins Avenue.

During the investigation, they located a 59-year-old man in the 1900 block of Durrett Avenue who suffered a gunshot wound to his left leg.

Officials said responding officers immediately applied a tourniquet, and called for additional assistance.

The victim was transported by helicopter to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.

Authorities said they received the name of a possible witness, but the individual had left the scene of the shooting before officers arrived. At this time, no arrests have been made.
