MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) -- A young Mt. Juliet man was taken into custody in connection with a Sunday morning road rage incident, according to officials.
The Mt. Juliet Police Department (MJPD) initially posted about the incident at 11:38 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, saying law enforcement activity at Pleasant Grove Road and Catalpa Drive was related to "the apprehension of suspects who pointed a shotgun at a motorist."
In a 1:18 p.m. follow-up post, authorities said an 18-year-old exited his vehicle near Cheddar's on Old Pleasant Grove Road, retrieved a shotgun, and approached another motorist. The victim reportedly feared for their safety, so they quickly left the scene and called police.
"Thanks to officers actively participating in Operation Safe Shopper, the suspect was swiftly apprehended, and the shotgun was recovered," MJPD wrote on social media.
According to officials, the Mt. Juliet teen is facing aggravated assault charges following this road rage incident. He has been booked into the Wilson County Jail.
