Family members told News 2 that she fell sick while on duty last week. EMTs took her to the hospital in the ambulance she often worked in. Andrew Neal was her shift partner for 10 years.
"She became not only a good partner but a best friend," Neal said. "We watched each others kids grow up sharing good and bad moments."
"Laura was way too young to die," pastor Eric White said. "She was too full of life. She much of a part of our past and present for us to think about a future without her."
More than an EMT, Laura was also a mother and grandmother. The flag draped over her coffin and her EMT gear were presented to her family.
"The Nashville Fire Department lost a good EMT," Neal said. "We lost a great friend. Her daughters lost a loving mother, her parents lost a wonderful daughter, and the world lost a beautiful person."
