NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) -- First responders were called out to Percy Priest Lake Sunday afternoon, where they found the body of a man who reportedly went underwater and never resurfaced.
Metro Nashville dispatch said crews responded to a possible drowning near the Hamilton Creek Sailboat Marina in the 2900 block of Bell Road just before 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 16.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), a man in his 30s from the Republic of Colombia was at the lake with friends when they said he swam about 15 yards out from the shoreline and began to struggle.

The friends initially thought he was joking around, but when he went under and didn't come back up, they reportedly swam out to help. However, they were unsuccessful.
Officials said the Nashville Fire Department (NFD) and the Nashville Office of Emergency Management (OEM) recovered the man's body shortly after 2:30 p.m.
Just after 3 p.m., NFD confirmed to News 2 that members of MNPD and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) were already on scene and would be handling the investigation moving forward.
Authorities have yet to release the victim's identity, saying they are still working to find and notify his next of kin.
Police said Sunday afternoon's deadly drowning appears to be accidental, but no additional. details have been released about this incident.
