CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The rain did not stop family and friends from gathering at a candlelight vigil on Wednesday.
The victim of what police called a domestic-related incident, Bra'Anna Harbison, was just 16 years old. Harbison was a young mother with a two-week-old baby girl.
"Even through the rain, God is still good," Harbison's grandmother, Tonya Hickerson, said.
Harbison was shot and killed at her Clarksville home last Thursday. Police said that another teen, the baby's father, was found shot at the scene too. As of publication, he is still hospitalized and in critical condition.
"It was the last thing [we] expected. The very last thing," Hickerson said. "I am so devestated right now."
Investigators said that he was the aggressor in what they called a domestic-related incident. They added that homicide charges are pending.
"A 16-year-old just had a baby and you take her life like she was a piece of trash," Hickerson said. "That is not a human. How could you do that? What were you thinking?"
As of print, the baby is in state care. Family said that Harbison's mother is working on getting custody.
"In her short life, Bra'Anna left a mark on people. For her to be taken so soon, her life cut so short, is very devestating," Harbison's cousin, Faye Cutler, said.
As this family is planning her funeral, they added that they want Harbison's killer to face justice.
"She loved to take picture. She loved videos," Hickerson said. "She was always snapping it up. Always snapping it up. She was a loving person to be around."
If you want to help the family with funeral costs, you can contribute to their GoFundMe.
"A baby having to grow up without her mother is hard because there is nothing like a mother's love," Cutler said.
