NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — After Monday's heavy rain and severe thunderstorms, more storms are likely through Wednesday afternoon. As rain chances decrease, the dangerous heat builds, with potential "feels like" temperatures near 110°.

The Storm Prediction Center has a Slight Risk (level 2 out of 5) for severe weather on Tuesday in most of Middle TN and all of Southern KY, with a level 1/5 Marginal Risk for the west-southwestern parts of Middle TN.

Damaging winds, hail, heavy rain, and even an isolated tornado can't be ruled out with any of these rounds of storms.

Let's look at each day.

Tuesday

Tuesday morning, showers and storms should pick up in coverage after 8 a.m. for areas east of I-65. This is where the best rain chance should be through midday into the afternoon. Other areas not seeing rain will see intense heat/humidity.

Overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning, the next storm complex could impact our area.

Wednesday

During the day Wednesday, another batch of storms may occur in the midday/afternoon hours.

Additional rain totals could reach up to two inches, but there is good potential that a few areas could see higher amounts where heavier rain falls.

Dangerous heat increasing

Dangerous heat will become the primary story as storm chances decrease. Starting today, air temperatures climb into the mid and even upper 90s, and dewpoints (a measure of humidity) will be oppressive, running in the mid-70s. That will push the heat index to 105° and higher.
