Security concern delayed Trump's speech at Nashville conference: sources

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Former President Donald Trump was delayed from the taking the stage in Nashville during the Bitcoin 2024 Conference on Saturday, ABC News has confirmed.

On Saturday, July 27, just two weeks after he was struck during an assassination attempt at a Pennsylvania rally, Trump addressed attendees during a conference at the Music City Center in downtown Nashville.

News 2 has since learned that Trump's speech was delayed for a moment due to a lapse in security.

In a statement obtained by ABC News, a Secret Service spokesperson announced, "Former President Trump's remarks were delayed at the 2024 Bitcoin conference in Nashville, Tennessee when two credentialed and screened individuals were removed from the premises for not following proper entry protocols."

The two reportedly went around metal detectors inside the Music City Center.

The Secret Service spokesperson added that there was "no protective interest with these individuals" and that there was never a threat to the former president.

During his speech, the presidential nominee reportedly promised to make the United States the "crypto capital of the planet."

He also pledged to defeat Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming election, calling her his "second choice to run against."

Saturday's conference attracted an estimated 20,000 people to downtown Nashville. In fact, some attendees at the event reportedly paid between $60,000 to more than $800,000 to get a picture with Republican presidential nominee.
