NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 24-year-old woman was killed in a multiple-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 in West Nashville Wednesday night.
The crash happened in the westbound lanes near mile marker 204 around 9:45 p.m.
Metro police reported the woman, identified as Taylor Burns, was stopped in a travel lane for unknown reasons when her Chevy Prism was hit by a Acura TSX. Burns was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died.
The driver of the Acura was also taken to Vanderbilt for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. That driver said a vehicle in front of her suddenly swerved to avoid the Prism and she was unable to stop prior to colliding with the back of it, according to a release.
A post to X, formerly Twitter, from the official TDOT account added traffic was diverted to the Briley Parkway exit.
No additional information was immediately released.
