NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Find up-to-the-minute results in the August 1 Republican primary for the fifth Congressional district for Tennessee.
Incumbent Rep. Andy Ogles is facing Metro Councilmember Courtney Johnston who currently represents Nashville’s 26th District—which includes parts of Berry Hill and areas near Brentwood.
In 2022, the former Maury County mayor won a competitive Republican primary before winning the general election by a 14-point margin. Ogles also received the endorsement of former President Trump.
Johnston spoke with News 2's Adam Mintzer the day before the election. She said the one-term congressman has embarrassed Tennessee and has used his time in office to make headlines rather than pass laws.
Ogles has introduced more than 70 bills in his first term including Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Kamala Harris and the “Liberty in Laundry Act,” which would prohibit the US Secretary of Energy from enforcing energy conservation standards for clothes washers.
