DICKSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Some Dickson County residents are on high alert after a string of thefts were reported there this weekend.
Eastside Drive in Burns is usually a quiet neighborhood, according to homeowner Casey Clements.
"We bought the house from my dad. My parents lived here for many years before that," Clements said. "They never had anything stolen and they ran a landscaping company."
Clements said late Saturday night and into Sunday morning, thieves stole a pressure washer from his driveway.
"They crept up slow, parked in my neighbor's driveway [and] walked around the house," Clements said.
Surveillance video showed a man stealing the pressure washer. Captain Jennifer Caruthers with the Dickson County Sheriff's Office said investigators have not only launched an investigation about the pressure washer theft, but about three other nearby car break-ins.
"We had a gun taken from another vehicle and then we had a wallet that actually had a debit and credit card inside," Caruthers said. "The credit card was used — that's how that subject realized their car had been broken into because their bank had notified them."
Detectives believe the suspect used the stolen card at a Nashville gas station and are working to obtain surveillance video. Caruthers noted the cars that were burglarized were unlocked.
"Lock your doors and don't leave anything of value in sight," Caruthers said. "If it's tempting enough, they may break a window [or] jam open your door — something like that to get to what you have that they want."
Clements said he's keeping a closer eye on his property. He also wants his pressure washer, which is tagged with green spray paint, returned.
"To have somebody just right outside who, obviously, isn't worried about the law is kind of unsettling," Clements said.
Deputies said they think there are more victims out there. If you have any information about these incidents, or if you're a victim, call the Dickson County Sheriff's Office.
"They got lucky that [neither] me or none of the neighbors heard them because it would have been a whole different story," Clements added.
